This tank was a member of "Hobart's Funnies" which took part in the Normandy landing in 1944. The Churchill SBG was based on the Churchill AVRE with a Small Box Girder assault bridge attached and transported in front.
The Churchill SBG was used to scale sea walls and bridge ditches and tank traps on the Normandy beaches.
